These guides cover version 2.0 for iPhone. If you use an earlier digiID version, keep it installed and contact us before deleting or reinstalling it.

How do I open my wallet?

Tap Open my wallet and authenticate with your iPhone. A device passcode is required. If authentication fails, check that the passcode is enabled in iPhone Settings and try again.

Keep the app installed if it cannot open your wallet. Use your recovery backup if you can no longer access the wallet key.

How do I save a recovery backup?
  1. Open digiID Settings → Create recovery backup.
  2. Save the recovery key separately, such as in your password manager.
  3. Confirm I have saved the recovery key, then select Save encrypted backup.
  4. Choose a safe location for the file. Keep both the file and its matching key.

Make a fresh backup after important changes. The wallet's files are excluded from automatic device backups. digiID cannot recover a lost key for you.

How do I recover my documents?

On the opening screen, tap Recover from a backup. Choose your encrypted file, enter its matching recovery key and authenticate. This creates a separate wallet on the iPhone and preserves earlier wallet files and keys.

If your wallet is already open, use Settings → Import recovery backup. Documents are added to the current wallet. Importing the identical backup again does not duplicate its documents.

Where are my earlier digiID cards?

After updating, open your wallet and use Import earlier cards if shown, or Settings → Check for earlier cards. The importer makes copies and preserves the earlier files.

Review the imported cards and their pages. If the app reports an unsupported database or missing images, keep the app installed and contact support. Do not delete the original installation as a troubleshooting step.

How do I scan, search and share?

Use the plus button in Wallet to scan a document, select a photo or enter details manually. Search finds matching details and recognized text on your iPhone.

Open a document and select Share details. Choose the fields you want to send and check the preview. The exported text includes the document title and selected fields. Pages, notes and recognized text are not automatically included.

A recipient can retain the exported copy. A saved document is a personal copy, not a verified identity credential or a replacement for an original document.

How do I manage expiry reminders?

Add an expiry date to a document, then enable expiry notifications in digiID Settings. Permission is optional. Notifications use general wording without document names or numbers. You can change permission in iPhone Settings.

How do I delete a document?

Open it, tap Delete document and confirm. This removes it from the active wallet. Existing exported backups, original photos, earlier digiID source files and copies held by recipients are separate and are not deleted by this action.

For information about retained files and deletion requests, see the privacy policy.
